This page explains, in plain language, how Avinya Affiliates makes money and what that means for what you read here.
The short version
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and then buy something, we may receive a commission from the seller. This costs you nothing extra. The price is the same as it would be if you had gone to the site directly.
Which links are affiliate links
Links to retailers and to software companies are usually affiliate links. Links to news reports, manufacturer specification pages, research and regulatory sources are not. Where an article is built around a product recommendation, assume a purchase link is an affiliate link unless it says otherwise.
Programmes we take part in
We participate in affiliate programmes run by retailers, software companies and affiliate networks. Where a specific programme requires its own wording to be displayed, that statement is added to this page when we join, and the programme is named here.
What commission does not buy
A commission does not buy a recommendation. Specifically:
- We do not rank products by which one pays the most.
- We do not remove criticism because a company has an affiliate programme.
- We recommend products with no affiliate programme at all when they are the right answer.
- We say when the cheaper option is good enough, and when buying nothing is the sensible choice.
Sponsored content
We do not publish paid reviews or sponsored articles. If that ever changes, any such article will be labelled clearly at the top, before you read a word of it.
Products we have not tested
Many of our guides explain how to choose within a category rather than reviewing individual units. Where we have not used a product ourselves, we say so and explain what the assessment is based on, such as published specifications, manufacturer documentation or reported user experience.
Prices and availability
Prices, offers and stock change constantly. Anything we mention was accurate when written and may not be by the time you read it. Always check the current price on the seller site before buying.
